Fotoarte is a client-side digital mosaic and graphic art studio built by Parsec AI Labs and Rodrigo Polo. It deconstructs any photograph into hundreds of miniature photo tiles, 8-bit retro matrices, or high-resolution typographic patterns using multithreaded Web Workers while ensuring uncompromising user privacy.
What it does
- Custom photomosaics — reconstructs portraits and landscapes from a matrix of photo tiles matched by color accuracy and luminance.
- Flexible photo sourcing — import your own personal photo library (up to 600 local images), curate public domain collections across categories (nature, city, animals, travel, art, food, sports), or blend personal and public pictures.
- 10 visual styles and artistic techniques:
- Photomosaic: miniature photographic tiles matched by chromatic proximity.
- 8-bit / Pixel art: classic retro console grid aesthetics.
- Pointillism: ink stippling with density gradients.
- Concentric circles: nested rings with scale modulation.
- Waves: fluid contour lines and rhythmic strokes.
- Artistic hatching: traditional engraving cross-hatching and shading.
- Blocks: flat geometric color tiles.
- ASCII art: typographic symbols and monochrome/color glyphs.
- Typewriter: analogue ink ribbon monospace texturing.
- Colored lettering: custom user words and phrases forming the image.
- Multithreaded Web Worker engine — image quantization, color matching, and heavy tile placement run asynchronously inside background workers on Canvas 2D, keeping the main interface responsive.
- Ultra-high resolution export — render outputs in Standard Quality (2400 px), 4K Ultra HD (3840 px, ideal for inspecting individual photo tiles upon zooming in), or Ultra Poster (4800 px, optimized for large-scale physical printing).
- Optional AI assistance — opt-in Google Gemini integration to examine image semantics and recommend thematic keywords for public domain sourcing, without using user pictures for model training.
Privacy and technical architecture
- 100% Client-Side: your photos are never uploaded to remote servers for rendering and are never stored in external databases. All image processing runs strictly within the browser’s volatile memory.
- Zero third-party leaks: the application avoids external Google Fonts CDNs (relying on system-native fonts and self-hosted assets such as Pixelify Sans under the SIL OFL license) to comply with European privacy rulings.
- Offline PWA: powered by a Service Worker and Cache Storage, allowing users to install the app on desktop or mobile and generate mosaics with personal libraries entirely offline.
- No tracking: free of third-party tracking pixels, invasive cookies, or analytics scripts.
Who it’s for
Designers, photographers, visual artists, and everyday users looking to produce high-resolution commemorative prints, mosaic posters, or generative digital art from their personal memories without handing over data ownership or compromising their privacy.
